I’m a pony
I come in all sorts of colors.
Brown
White
Beige
Black
A patchwork
of colors
I have a thick mane
I am of small stature but I have the heart of a champion.
I’m a worker and proud of it.
You can see me in the fields on farms
I am up at the crack of dawn
I assist the farmer with his crops by carrying them to market.
I am a favorite at kids birthday parties too.
I love when children ride me around as they smile and pat me gently.
I am a small equine.
I’m a little horse.
I can carry more than my weight when I haul a carriage and payloads.
I love grazing in the grassland.
I am a social animal.
I’m very friendly and agreeable.
Sometimes I can be stubborn but for the most part I am very cooperative and productive.
There was a time when I would play an important role in delivering mail before the advent of the railroad.
The pony express operated for nearly two years starting in 1860 and enabled mail delivery from the East coast to the West coast.
It was a coordinated delivery system that was eventually replaced by telegraph and railway lines but it was of critical importance and romanticized in American lore.
Ponies are beautiful animals and are fast like the wind.
They are admired and loved the world over.
They feast on grass, hay, grains and require a steady supply of water throughout the day.
Ponies need to be groomed properly and love the gentle touch of their groomer and enjoy being sponged down during their washings.
Ponies love the interaction with their groomer and owner and children and are very gentle animals.
Children love pony rides and they always cherish those precious moments that become lasting memories of childhood.
Ponies and larger horses have been domesticated over 5,000 years around 3500 BC and are intertwined with human existence similar to dogs.
Ponies are smaller and stockier than horses and are hard working animals.
There are over 350 species of horses in the world. Some popular breeds of ponies are the Shetland and Highlands ponies that are of Scottish descent.
Ponies like horses are majestic animals that have personalities and are very friendly and docile and love to be around people and animals and they require a lot of care and maintenance and ongoing visits with the veterinarian for their health care.
Ponies like horses are susceptible to injuries in their working environment and therefore must have proper care always to prevent or treat such injuries.
Next time you have a birthday party for your child don’t forget to have a pony present to bring a smile to the children as they sit atop the pony as they ride one and have your camera to capture the moment.
I know children love those rides because I’ve taken them on many.
