I’m a Horse

I’m a Horse

I’m a 4 legged animal

I’m as fast as the wind as a thoroughbred

I can run 45 mph

As a quarter horse I can run even faster at 55 mph

I am a beautiful animal

I’m as gentle as can be

Do you remember Mister Ed,

The talking horse

That was a popular tv show that featured a horse who talked to his owner Mr. Wilber Post but no one else which led to pretty funny side splitting laughter

Horses have been around since the beginning of time.

Mankind and horse are joined at the hip

Our love affair with horses has been all throughout time.

In war,

In peace,

On the big screen,

On the tv,

In sports,

At work,

Anytime

Horses are truly one of our favorite animals

They are fun to be around

They’re also

Majestic,

Proud,

Beautiful,

Fast,

Hard working,

We love our horses

We ride them

We watch them in sport

In equestrian competition

In steeple chase

In thoroughbred racing

In quarter mile racing

In polo

We marvel at them in movies

National Velvet was featured on the big screen in 1944 based on a novel and starring a young Elizabeth Taylor, Micky Rooney and Angela Lansbury among others.

It centers around an adolescent English girl and her dream of training her horse she won in a raffle for the Grand National Steeplechase, a pie in the sky idea, that unfolds in a beautifully crafted story.

Although victory is not realized it shows the love the young girl has for her horse and the jockey who rides him and the life she forges with her horse as she experiences life beyond competition.

The horse is an amazing animal that when born soon stands on its legs wanting to prove itself right from the start.

Horses are domesticated animals and have such expressive eyes and are very emotional and strong.

One of the most famous champion race horses of all time was Secretariat who won the triple crown in 1973 and still to this day holds the record for the fastest race, 2 minutes, 24 seconds and longest lead, 31 lengths in a mile and a half race on June 9, 1973.

The horse, Secretariat is immortalized in film in the Walt Disney movie of 2010, by the same name telling the incredible story of the triple crown winner and his owner who believed in him and made him a champion. It is heartwarming, inspirational and a beautiful family film that everyone will enjoy.

Secretariat is also featured in the horse racing hall of fame in Saratoga Springs, New York along with his jockey, owner and trainer who made him a true champion and legendary hero.

There is something truly special about a horse and the people who take care of them from the owner to the groomer to the jockey to the veterinarian to the stables caregivers to the trainer.

When you see a horse race you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement, the wonder, the joy and the absolute pleasure of seeing them in action on the track.

The most heartbreaking experience is seeing a horse go down and realizing they will have to be euthanized due to injury that is life ending.

Horses need protection in both sport and on the farm.

It is sad knowing that many horses have died on battlefields all throughout time in all places in the world.

The breeding of thoroughbred race horses is a complicated process but is all natural when finding the stallion and mare to sire a foal.

Horses that work on the farm are very important yet they don’t get the adulation that a race horse garners even though their role is equally as important.

Horses are also bred with donkeys and the result depends on the sex of the horse and donkey.

A male horse and female donkey results in a hinny.

A female horse and male donkey results in a mule.

Horses love hay to eat in their diet in addition to plenty of water and they enjoy running around and also resting when they get the chance.

We’ve all heard this expression

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t force it to drink.

That simply means you can provide opportunities to someone but that doesn’t mean they will undertake them.

Horses are very sociable animals, they love attention and they will treat you well if you treat them well.

Horses who have long storied careers as race horses love to retire and have free roam at the stables and farms they retire to.

When you look into a horse’s eyes you can feel their spirit.

It is the most incredible feeling you can ever imagine.

Children of all ages want to experience a day out with a horse.

They want to feel what it’s like to sit on a horse, grab hold of it and ride it on the land with others in a herd at a safe distance and speed.

If you come out to the racetrack or the farm you can catch a glimpse of me in action.

Please feel free to take a picture but be careful with the flash.

I need to be able to see.

I’m a horse
